WHY IS IT BETTER TO USE DRONES?

While many industries are already using drones, few are benefiting as much as surveyors. For a surveyor, a drone is a powerful tool to efficiently, easily and safely create orthophotos and topographic data faster than ever. While UAVs  (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, informally known as drones) are capable and efficient, using them effectively requires more than just waiting for automatic results.

Producing results with a drone requires multiple hardware and software components. The necessary hardware is a drone, a camera and a GPS ground station; the software required is the mission planning program, the autopilot and the data processing program.

Simply collecting a set of aerial photographs over a plot of land is not all, the photos must be turned into a product that provides value to a surveyor and the customer. Of the many data processing solutions that exist, all operate on the same underlying principles of photogrammetry. The photos that the drones collect are "stitched" or joined and georeferenced using the UAV GPS and a ground GPS to correlate the 2 Georeferences. Joining the photos produces two main products: a single orthorectified photograph and a three-dimensional model of the terrain from which other products such as contour lines, altimetry and planimetry can then be extracted.

ADVANTAGES OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY

Economy: it is much less expensive than a traditional survey due to the practicality of being able to be carried out with small teams and its speed

Time: a drone can advance up to 1500 Has per day, making it ideal for large projects.

Practicality: large teams of field workers are not required to carry out these surveys, which facilitates the logistics of the project.

Accuracy: With the high technology of our Drones we can register even the furrows of the plow and represent their contour lines, incredible!
